INSOL Europe 2020, Zagreb- Conference on Applicable Law in Cross- Border Insolvency Proceedings

On 27-28 March 2020 another conference of the European Commission INSOL Europe 2020 has been planned. It is organized by the Croatian Ministry of Justice and the Faculty of Law of the University of Zagreb. The conference focuses on the applicable law in cross-border insolvency proceedings. Advocate Bartosz Groele, who is a Partner of the TPG Law Office, has been invited to participate in this conference. As a speaker he will discuss the issues concerning the effects of foreign insolvency proceedings on arbitration proceedings in the state of recognition. Success of the TPG Low Office in the accelerated arrangement proceedings

We are pleased to inform that the District Court in Bielsko-Biała has approved the arrangement in the accelerated arrangement proceedings, in which the TPG Law Office team headed by advocate Bartosz Groele, Partner at TPG Law Office, and attorney-at-law Bartosz Magnowski represented a major business enterprise in the meat processing industry. Thanks to the determination and cooperation of all interested parties, a new start for our client was possible after merely four months from the day of opening the proceedings.

6-7 February 2020, lecture in the French National School of Justices and Prosecutors in Paris

On 6-7 February 2020, advocate Bartosz Groele Partner of the Law Office spoke before the students of the French National School of Justices and Prosecutors in Paris. As part of a two-day seminar, along with Jean-Luc Vallens, who is a French justice and former advocate at the Court of Appeal in Colmar, he gave a speech on the issues related to cross-border insolvency proceedings of groups of companies. The speech was well received. The next seminar will take place in September this year. We will keep you informed.

16 December 2019 public hearing before the supreme court

On 16 December 2019 the Supreme Court sitting in the panel of 7 judges adopted a long-awaited resolution regulating the issue of consumer bankruptcy and joint property of spouses. 56th session of the Working Group V UNCITRAL (Insolvency Law), 2-5 December 2019, Vienna

We have just completed the 56th session of the Working Group V UNCITRAL (Insolvency Law) which took place on December 2-5, 2019 in Vienna. A number of representatives of UN member states took part in it. One of them, the representatives of Poland, delegated by the Ministry of Development was once again the Partner of TPG Advocate Bartosz Groele, who is an expert on restructuring, insolvency and bankruptcy law. The Polish delegation comprised also Judge Emil Szczepanik, Advocate Maciej Geromin , Legal Counsel to the General Prosecutor’s Office Maciej Szkrzypek. The main topic of the 56th session was to develop common features and principles of simplified insolvency proceedings for micro and small enterprises in difficulty. This event was extremely important in terms of changes planned in our country in the year 2020. TPG Law firm is a partner of the fourth edition of the “Architecture is the most important” series

 

In 2018, TPG Law firm assisted with the publication of the fourth volume of the “Architecture is the most important” series “Trees”. EMG publishing house proposed to selected outstanding individuals to write essays on trees and their role in the context of architectural and urban activities. The author of the introductory essay “Eight linden” is Olga Tokarczuk, the 2018 Nobel Prize laureate. This text still remains the latest text of the Nobel Prize winner published in Polish. We encourage all of you to read, not only the essay of Olga Tokarczuk, but also the texts of other authors, including Prof. Małgorzata Omilanowska, Barbara Bartkowicz and Jan Rylke.

During this conference, experienced experts raised important issues related to the business world. Completion of the 1st edition of post-graduate studies on insolvency law at the Jagiellonian University

The first edition of postgraduate studies on Restructuring, bankruptcy and financial law integrated with skills outside the legal area has just come to an end. It was organized by the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University (2018-2020). The workshop on restructuring law and insolvency law was held by Bartosz Groele, an advocate and a partner at the TPG Law Firm, together with Maciej Geronim, an advocate, and Zbigniew Miczek, a district and appeals court judge. The workshop was dedicated to judges sitting in economic divisions conducting restructuring and insolvency proceedings as well as the prosecutors and prosecutor assessors handling economic and financial crime in the whole of Poland. This is another edition of the workshop where experts conduct classes in this study form. In the current academic year 2019-2020, starting from 26-27 October this year. the second edition of the studies will open.
